Tradesman Edouard Brunet began his carpentry career at the end of the 19th century, building one-room schools and small houses in Lachute, Quebec, and L’Orignal, Ontario. An entrepreneur at heart, in 1901 he founded the company that still proudly bears his name. In addition to his name, Ed Brunet passed on his passion for building to the following generations.
In the 1920s, his son Raymond took over as head of the company, then called Ed Brunet and son. The company experienced significant growth, becoming recognized through its work on major construction projects on both sides of the Ottawa River. Several prestigious buildings constructed at that time still hold a significant function locally. More than just a contractor, Raymond Brunet became fully involved in his community, serving as mayor of Hull from 1940 to 1948.
His eldest son, Jean-Gilles, would succeed him in 1962. Following in the footsteps of his father, he continued to grow the company, erecting hundreds of commercial, industrial, and residential buildings in Quebec and Ontario. The company entered an era of modernization under his leadership, illustrated by the adoption of values of equity within the culture of the company, now known under the name of Ed Brunet and Associates.
Raymond Brunet took over the company from his father in 1995, supported by his associates, James Wilson and Philippe Houle. The company continued to grow and modernize under their leadership. Its influence now extends beyond its achievements, which remain numerous and diversified, while Ed Brunet and Associates is actively involved in both its industry and its community.
In 2018, a fifth generation of partners started to get involved in the company’s management. Since 2023, the four new partners, Sébastien Brunet, Sophie Brunet, Ali Torabi and Denis Laflamme, have taken the leadership of the business. Generational values, which have been dear to the company for more than 120 years, are always at the forefront of the continuous development of the company.
